Privacy Policy

gogoai.dev is a curated discovery feed for operations engineers. This policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it on our behalf, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can and you can browse the whole site without an account.

Information we collect

  • Anonymous device ID. The first time you react to, bookmark, or submit an item, we set a random ID in a first-party cookie (gogoai_device) so those actions persist on this browser. It is not linked to your identity unless you create an account.
  • Account details. If you sign up, we store your name, email, and the role and interests you provide, plus optional phone and company. We sign you in with an emailed one-time code, so we do not store a password for your account.
  • Subscription details. If you subscribe through our subscribe form, we store your name and email, and, only if you choose to give them, your WhatsApp number, job title, and company. We also note which part of the site you subscribed from. Nothing is sent to you until you confirm your email address through the link we send (double opt-in).
  • Content you submit. Comments you post and tips you send (for example a link and a note), associated with your account or device ID.
  • Usage analytics. Aggregate usage data via Google Analytics (page views, referrers, general device and browser info) to understand what content is useful, loaded only after you accept analytics cookies.
  • Approximate location. Our hosting provider derives an approximate city and country from your IP address. We use it only to default the Jobs board to listings near you; you can switch to worldwide with one click.
  • Technical logs. Standard request logs (IP address, timestamp, user agent) kept by our hosting provider for security and reliability.

What you agree to when you subscribe

Once you confirm your email, your subscription covers:

  • The Week in Ops, our weekly newsletter, every Saturday.
  • Event invites and updates from gogoai.dev, such as workshops and meetups we host or co-host.
  • Our WhatsApp community, only if you gave a WhatsApp number. We use the number to add you to or invite you to the community group, where other members can see your name and number, as in any WhatsApp group. You can leave the group at any time from WhatsApp.

We use your job title and company only to understand who reads gogoai.dev and to make our content and events more relevant. We never sell your details or share them with sponsors or event partners.

Cookies & local storage

  • gogoai_device: anonymous device ID for reactions and bookmarks (about one year).
  • Session cookies to keep you signed in when you have an account.
  • Browser local storage for your theme choice and small UI preferences (for example dismissing a banner). These stay on your device.
  • Google Analytics cookies, set only if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change this anytime via “Cookie preferences” in the footer.

How we use it

To operate and improve the feed, remember your reactions and bookmarks, run your account, send the newsletter, event invites and updates you subscribed to, run the WhatsApp community for members who joined it, surface locally relevant jobs, understand aggregate usage, and keep the service secure. We do not sell your personal data or use it for third-party advertising.

Who processes your data

We share data only with providers that run the service for us:

  • Supabase: database and authentication.
  • Resend: sign-in, confirmation, and newsletter email.
  • WhatsApp (Meta): our community group, for subscribers who gave a WhatsApp number.
  • Google Analytics: usage analytics.
  • Vercel: hosting, request logs, and IP-based geolocation.

Links to external job postings, news, and other sites are governed by those sites' own privacy policies.

Retention

We keep account data until you delete your account. We keep subscription details while you are subscribed; when you unsubscribe we stop all newsletter, marketing, and WhatsApp contact, and keep only a record that you unsubscribed so we don't contact you again. Anonymous device data persists with the cookie (about a year) or until you clear it. Provider logs follow each provider's standard retention.

Your choices & rights

  • Unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of any newsletter or marketing email, or the unsubscribe button your email app shows. Unsubscribing stops the newsletter, event and marketing emails, and WhatsApp community contact together, and we remove your number from the group.
  • Leave the WhatsApp community yourself at any time from WhatsApp.
  • Changed your mind? Subscribe again whenever you like.
  • Clear your cookies and site data to reset your device ID and preferences.
  • Edit your profile from your account, or request access, correction, or deletion of your data by email.
  • Accept or decline analytics cookies in the banner, and change your choice anytime via “Cookie preferences” in the footer.

International transfers & children

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. The service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above.
